Goodreads Book Goal for 2016

This year I am setting my Goodreads goal to 100 books read this year with a flex goal of 200. Because this post is late I have already read 66 books this year so I will probably get to my flex goal by the end of the year. That's assuming I don't have a reading slump.

Book Review: Old Dog, New Tricks

Old Dog, New Tricks is the fourth and final book in the Black Dog Series by Hailey Edwards. Mrs. Edwards is a fellow resident of Alabama, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that out.

In this installment we find Theirry, the main character, preparing to return to fairy in order to get her mother-in-law off the throne. After finding the love of her life, who isn't her common law husband, she must return to seal the tethers and get an annulment. With her father by her side and her lover captured Theirry must race to close all the tethers and keep her Mother in Law from coming over to expand her reach in the mortal realm.

I enjoyed this book even though I felt rushed to a conclusion. Mrs. Edwards tried to tie up every loose end in this book. Which I am a fan of if you are going to end a series. But a number of things stuck out to me.

The most annoying thing to me was when her father taught her to create an air pocket to hide her weapons he tells her that it is against the law to hide living things in an air pocket. He also gives her the magic words to create, attach, and hide an air pocket. But he tells her that different magic is needed to make a living thing invisible. So when she captures the Morrigan she should not have been able to hide her in the pocket. This has irked me since I finished the book. Also while tying up the loose ends she created more, because we still do not know what happened to the Morrigan.

Hopefully this is not the end of these storylines as I have seen that there are more books planned in this world. Overall I give this book a 4/5. A very satisfying ending to the series otherwise.
